Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents ask about Pumpkin - rewards, screen time, money, privacy, pricing, and real family life.

The Basics

Getting Started

Pumpkin is a Family Operating System that helps you raise capable, responsible kids. Through everyday chores, habits, goals, and routines, children build real-world life skills and financial literacy - one small task at a time. The idea behind the name is simple: small tasks grow into big life skills.

Pumpkin is designed for kids roughly 4 through 13 and up. It grows with your child through five age-adaptive personas, so a four-year-old and a teenager each get an experience that fits where they are.

Pumpkin adapts its language, visuals, and complexity to five stages: Seedling (ages 4-6), Explorer (7-9), Achiever (10-12), and Independent (13+). Younger kids see simple, picture-friendly tasks and gentle rewards; older kids get more responsibility, goals, and independence. You never have to manually dial anything in - the experience meets each child at their level.

Download Pumpkin on iOS, create your parent account, and add each child with their name and age. Pumpkin picks the right persona automatically, and from there you can add chores, habits, goals, and routines, then choose how each one is rewarded. You can add up to six kids, and every feature is included from day one.

No. This is one of the biggest differences between Pumpkin and apps like Greenlight or GoHenry. Pumpkin does not require a bank account or a debit card. Rewards can be screen time, points and stars, treats, or money - money is just one option, not a requirement. Pumpkin is not a bank, so you stay in control of any real money.

Earning

Rewards & Screen Time

Pumpkin uses multi-currency rewards, so you choose what motivates your child. That can be screen time, points or stars, treats and privileges, or money. You can mix and match across chores and goals, and change what works as your child grows.

Kids can earn screen-time minutes by completing chores, habits, and routines - and those minutes can expire or be banked, just like any other reward. Today this is a soft, family source-of-truth balance you and your child track together. OS-level integration with iOS Screen Time is on our roadmap so those minutes can connect directly to device limits.

Yes. Kids can bank the minutes they earn instead of spending them right away, which is a gentle first lesson in saving and delayed gratification. You can also set minutes to expire if you want to encourage using them within a certain window - you decide what fits your family.

Money Missions are short, playful quizzes that teach kids about money and life skills as they use Pumpkin. They are grounded in real education standards, so children build genuine financial literacy while they earn - not just tap through tasks.

Trust

Money & Safety
